Pre-Footlocker Info

Golden Eagles --
Just wanted to give a quick Thank You to all of you who helped with our football concession assignment and also with all of you who helped set up and take down with the dance. Thanks for all your help with all of that.

We are trying to put together a highlight video and scrapbook for our second season for our awards banquet. We have gotten a lot of photos, however we are always looking for more. If any of you have any photos you would be willing to allow us to use please give a copy of them to Coach Wyatt by Friday Nov. 5th. This could be on a disc or a flash drive. Any type of photo of anyone on our team will help us. (facebook photos, cell phone photos, grandma's camera, parents camera, or your own) Thanks.

Below is the info about the Pre-footlocker meet this Saturday. Remember we want all of you who are running footlocker to run in this meet. The Bus will leave MMHS at 7:00am!

Thoughts on the Season and Other Post Season Info

Golden Eagles --
When Nate Vance crossed the finish line Wednesday at Highland High School it brought to close our second cross country season as a school. Since that time I have had time to reflect and look back at our season. It has been such a fun year. I can never forget all the fun we had singing in the vans or bus, the running, getting in the water, running, watching movies, running, the ropes course, running, and even more running this summer. I can never forget the memories we made in St. George. Or the inside jokes attached with that trip and all the "Wee pets" with Coach Barker. Who can ever forget the birthday gift given to Lindsey. The catch phrase that came from this trip will forever be linked to this season; "Don't worry about it!"

It has been a lot of fun to see how you all have become friends with everyone on your TEAM. The friendships you made this season will last a lifetime.  I will never forget that on our hard workout days many were interested to see what fun ways Coach Barker could tie her treats into our running. It has also been awesome to see how you all have supported the other sports teams at our school. I have loved your upbeat personalities, and your willingness to help and support each other. It has truly been inspiring to me. I will never forget how as a TEAM we were able to rise above all that was going on and defend our region titles in both boys and girls races. Seeing the JV girls team placing 1st - 14th at the region meet is a memory I will always keep. Don't forget that the girls TEAM won the Nebo Invite and the Frosh TEAM won the BYU invite as well.

Seeing how many of you have taken the theme of this season and applied it to your self has been great to see. I have been very touched and will never forget how much you all tried to "rise above" the physical, mental, and emotional challenges of this season. I have seen many of you overcome much this season and, having known many of you for a long time now, seen you overcome lots of things through the years. I am very proud of all of you and the progress you have made this season. I am so proud of our TEAM. I am always amazed and inspired everyday by all of you. Thank you. I thank all of our parents for all of their support this whole season. Also the TEAM dinners have been just a fun time to be with each other and get to know each other better. Thank you to all who were a part of that and who put up with all 80+ of us invading your homes.

I will never forget the "lunch bunch" who always made my lunch time entertaining, thanks for the fun lunches, thanks for the games (super-duper-killer-enhanced-international-interchangeable-uno-of the stars!), the pictures, the running, and for the good example you all have set for my son. Thank you for your friendship. It has truly been an amazing second season for Maple Mountain Cross Country. Now as we start our post season and start to turn toward indoor and outdoor track never forget what you can accomplish when you put your whole mind and body into it. Keep "rising above" and you will be amazed at what the future will bring to you.  Thank You Golden Eagles, Thank You!  I feel honored to be one of your coaches. Thanks again -- Coach Wyatt

With the completion of the state meet our cross country season is over and thus starts our post season. Our TEAM will be traveling to the Footlocker Western Regional Cross Country Meet in California on December 2nd -5th. We thank all of you who have gotten all of your money in for this amazing trip. For the few of you who have not, get the money in ASAP! Also thanks to all of you who have registered for footlocker already and again for the very few who have not, get it done yesterday!  We will be discussing all things needed for this trip at practice this Thursday October 28th. Park City Results

Golden Eagles --

Yesterday we had a chance to experience some high altitude racing over the rolling hills on the 3 mile course at the Park City Invite. Full race results can be found here: Park City Invite Boys Results, Park City Invite Girls Results.  Both the boys and girls TEAM's placed 4th overall out of 21 schools and were the #1 4a school in this meet. The girls TEAM improved their gap from 38 seconds to 34 seconds from 1 through 5 but even more impressive than that is that a gap of 48 seconds from 1 through 9. Thank you ladies for your constant focus and hard work on your racing and helping your TEAM. The boys TEAM were able to show a solid TEAM run with all 7 improving times on this course from last year and also decreasing our gap from 1 through 5. Thank you guys for rising above the challenges that you are facing and focusing on your TEAM and your racing. We are really starting to see our practice pay off. We know that as we "see it through" that our TEAM and individual goals will be reached. Keep it up!

Next race up for us is the Region VIII Championships (Tuesday October 12th) on our home course at Maple Mountain High School. The JV girls will race at 4:00pm followed by the JV boys at 4:30pm followed by the Varsity Girls at 5:00pm and finally the Varsity Boys at 5:30pm

Happy Running!
