Golden Eagles –
The Distance Challenge was a fun opportunity for us to see how we are progressing early in this season. Thank you to all of you who gave up your Thursday night to race & run. Simplot Games: Well it is getting to that time again for our TEAM’s trip to Pocatello Idaho for the Simplot Games February 16th – 17th. This is a great opportunity for you to be at a national meet, to compete with some of the best, and even more important than that, this is a great time to bond and get to know your TEAMmates. This is one trip that we get to do for our track & field TEAM.  There are always great memories made and good times had by all who have attended this meet. The experiences, inside jokes, and success had at Simplot carry over for the outdoor season and have helped our TEAM. Now with deadlines coming Coach Wyatt needs to know by Wednesday February 1st if you are planning on going to this meet. The cost is $150 (This includes transportation, rooming, registration, and TEAM dinner). This payment needs to be paid to the finance office by Wednesday February 8th by 3:00pm.

Outdoor Track & Field: Our first official practice for outdoor track & field will be on Monday February 27th at 3:00pm. We will be having an athlete and parent meeting on Wednesday Feb 22nd at 5:00pm at MMHS in the cafeteria. Freshman Daniel Quintanna earned his spot on the all time indoor list in the 3200 with his time of 11:15.91 (#2 indoor mark). Freshman Elizabeth Knudsen also made it on the all tiem indoor list in the Shot Put. Seeing “Simba” fly & moonwalk will never be forgotten. Thank you to all of you who went to this meet. Thank you for taking advantage of these opportunities. Thank you

Practice this week will run as it has been for the past three weeks. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday meet at 3:00pm in the commons. We are looking forward to seeing all of you. Now this week brings us a unique opportunity This Thursday night is the Utah Distance Challenge at the Olympic Ice Oval. The cost is $5 and you can run in as many of the four events that you wish. Details are attached at the end of this post. The events run at this meet are all distance related with one fun 400 added in there. The 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 will all be ran at this meet. This is a great chance to compete on a non-200 meter track (oversized 422m). We would encourage all who can make it to this to do so. We would also encourage all the sprinters who can to go and run the 400 meters at this meet. We will meet at MMHS at 2:50pm to carpool & caravan on up to this meet for all who are going.

Thank you for being willing to step up for the relays & to be willing to run and not caring which leg or which relay. Thank you. Thank you for all of you for giving up your Friday night and your Saturday to compete in this meet. Thank you. Know that the hard work you put into practice will pay off and the marks you set this weekend will only improve from this point. Now TEAM we hope you all will take full advantage of these indoor meets. This is one of the only times you will get a chance to run the full distances on a track. It is also a chance for you to cash in your hard work. Our next meet is this Friday & Saturday at Weber State University. Details are $4 for first event & $2 for each additional event. The meet schedule is attached below. Please let Coach Wyatt know if you are planning to attend this meet before end of practice Thursday.

Practice will run as it has for the last two weeks. (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 3:00pm at athletic commons)  If you have any questions about practice places and times please ask any one of the coaches. There are also track & field Fundraisers that we do by working the snack shack for the home basketball games. The funds earned go to our TEAM. Please be willing to take part in these opportunities.
