Golden Eagles –
Well with 1/3 of our state qualifying meets out of the way our TEAM is well on its way to getting all the pieces in place towards our end of season goals. This week has been a very successful week for our TEAM. Congrats to the Girls TEAM on winning the Mountain Valley Invite. Congrats to the following TEAM members who have qualified for the state meet. Girls & Boys 4x100 Relays, Landon Ramon & Gentry Paice in the High Jump, Isaac Faux in the 800m & 1600m, Tarin Strossers in the Javelin, Megan Elmont in the Long Jump & 100m, Dalton Cottom in the Long Jump, Jordan Porcaro in the Shot Put, Travis Farley in the 100m, and Elli Eastmond in the 400m. Congrats to Tarin Strossers & Maddie Ball on their new school records in the Javelin & 1600m. Congrats also to the 60+ of you who PR’d during this week between our two qualifying meets. Also congrats to the many of you who hit your season best marks this week. We as coaches are so pleased with so many of you who are competing and are taking advantage of the opportunities that are given to you. Thank you to so many of you who have stepped up and filled in to help your TEAM in events that are not your typical events. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!!! Let’s keep working hard and competing at all times. Yes you will have to give up some of the typical things that a “typical teenager” has to give up, however you WILL gain something that the “typical teenager” will not. Let’s keep working hard, stay focused on our goals, and let’s never quit, and great things will come your way. Full meet results can be found at www.runnercard.com

Now this week is another busy week for us. We are hosting a region quad meet on Tuesday. This meet is for all members of our team. All members can choose the events they wish to compete in, they are allowed 4 events. The start time for this meet is 3:30. We could use some help with timing at this meet if anyone is willing please contact Coach Wyatt. Our state qualifying meet this week is the Alpha Invite at Timpanogos HS. As is always the case we are limited on the number of kids we can take to this meet. This is on Thursday & Friday. The buses will leave MMHS at 2:00pm on both days. High school kids will be excused at 1:45 & students at the junior highs will be out at 1:40pm. Also on Saturday is the underclassman invitational at Wasatch HS. This meet is for Freshmen & Sophomores only. This meet is designed to give the underclassmen a chance to compete in a state qualifying atmosphere without being a state qualifying meet. We need to pre register for both the Alpha Invites and the Underclassman invites. So please let the coaching staff know if you will not be able to attend these opportunities by end of practice on Monday! If we do not have enough interested underclassmen for Saturday’s meet, than we will cancel this meet.

There will be optional practices during spring break at MMHS at 10:00am Monday –Wednesday of spring break. Make sure you are getting your workouts from you coaches if you are going to be out of town for spring break. It is important that you keep running and keep in shape over spring break.

Let’s see this through all the way! Thanks for all you all do for our program. Happy running, jumping, & throwing!

Mtn. Valley & UVU Invite Info

Golden Eagles –
The Cougar relays are always fun and give us a great way to introduce a lot of us to the sport of track & field. It is always great to have opportunities to compete! This meet was full of opportunities! This meet is a great way for us to experience the TEAM concept. It is only as a TEAM that we can achieve our goals. We as coaches are so proud of all of you who took the opportunity to compete and to do your best for your TEAM. It is always humbling to see how many of you who are willing to step up and show heart and to compete for your TEAM. Thank you to all of you who did so!!! Thank you! We are still waiting on the results for this meet and when we get them we will let you all know in practice how our TEAM did. We know that we were competitive in this meet thanks to all of you who helped earn points for you TEAM. Keep up the hard work & keep helping your TEAM.

Now this week we have a very busy week for our TEAM. We have our first two state qualifying meets this week. In the sport of track & field there are limited times when you can qualify for state. One is the region championships the other times are the state qualifying meets. This week we have two state qualifying meets. For these state qualifying meets we are limited in the number of athletes we can have compete, so we as coaches will be Inviting those athletes to compete in these two meets, thus why these meets are often called “Invites or Invitational’s”. The first Invite of the week is the Mountain Valley Invite on Tuesday at Maple Mountain High School. This meet will have 8 schools that will be competing for qualifying times. The start time for this Invite is 2:00pm at MMHS. Athletes will be excused from their classes at 1:15pm to compete in this Invite. Because we are hosting this meet we are always looking for help with this meet. The order of events will be listed below. We are allowed 7 entries per events in this meet. The second Invite this week is the UVU Invite this Saturday at the Hal Wing Track & Field Complex at Utah Valley University. We are limited to 40 athletes per boys and 40 athletes per girls team. The start time is 8:00am and the buses will be leaving at 7:00am sharp. The order of events is below. The cost for all spectators for this meet is $2 dollars. This Invite is one of the largest in the state & will have over 40 schools competing. These two Invites are great chances for our TEAM to hit the qualifying marks against great competition.
Best Wishes this week!

First Meet Results & Cougar Relays Info

Golden Eagles –
It was great to have a meet this week and to get that first meet out of the way. There were lots of good performances at this meet. Several of you now have benchmarks that you can work from. Keep working hard and keep working toward our goals. Remember that it is as we work hard and work together that we will be able to accomplish our goals. As we talked about in practice it requires a full TEAM effort in order for us to accomplish our TEAM Goals. We as coaches know that you all can and will do great things. Full meet results can be found at this link region meet results. Good job at this meet TEAM.

Now this week, in addition to practice everyday we have two things as a TEAM. On Tuesday March 18th is our first TEAM fundraiser.

Maple Mountain High School Track & Field is excited to present  Shaun Dee The Hypno Hick “The Fastest Hypnotist In The West” on Tuesday March 18th 7:00pm at the Maple Mountain High School Auditorium the cost is $5 per person. We are asking you that bring 2 other people besides yourself to this fundraiser. It is a very entertaining show and an easy way to help your TEAM! This is guaranteed to bring smiles and laughter to all who attend. Please spread the word & bring as many people as you can!

The Second thing is our track meet the Cougar Relays. This week’s track meet is a “Relay Challenge Meet” This meet is a fun meet and a great chance for us to compete in some fun events that are not normally held (i.e. the throwers relay, sprint medley, shuttle hurdle relay). For many of our athletes who competed the last three years in this meet they have commented on how it was one of the highlights of the year and one of the funnest track meets of the year. We have been the TEAM champions in this meet every year it has existed and hope to repeat again this year. This is one of the only meets in which you will be competing by somewhat of a grade level (Freshman/Sophomores & than Juniors/Seniors) It is also one of the only meets in which they add the scores from both the boys and the girls TEAMs.

The Cougar Relays are on Friday March 21st and Saturday March 22nd at Kearns High School. (5525 Cougar Lane, Kearns Utah. By the Olympic Ice Oval) This meet is set up in a Frosh/Soph & Varsity style. On Friday will be all of the Varsity field events and all of the Frosh/Soph running events. On Saturday will be all of the Varsity running events and the Frosh/Soph field events. In this meet, athletes will compete in events chosen by the coaches. We will do our best to try to get every athlete into an event; however this is not always possible. Thanks for your understanding on this. IF you know you, for some reason, will not be attending this meet please let Coach Wyatt know by end of practice Monday. Thanks. The buses will be leaving Maple Mtn. on Friday at 1:30pm and on Saturday at 7:30am. Start time on Friday is 3:30pm & 9:00am on Saturday. This will be a very fun meet & don’t miss out on this meet!!!

The order of events is as follows:
Field Events (Varsity Friday Frosh/Soph Saturday)
First rotation:
Girls high jump, boys long jump, girls & boys shot put, boys discus, girls javelin.
Second rotation:

Other Notes:
Other notes for this week for everyone to be aware of, with the end of the term (Thursday) make sure that you are meeting the requirements to be academically eligible & taking care of all NC’s. Simple solution here is to just GO TO CLASS!!! TEAM let’s make sure that you are all stretching and cooling down after your workouts as well as hydrating yourselves. Final challenge that we have for you is that at the meets you take the time to cheer on your fellow TEAM-mates as they compete. Thank you to all of you for a good first three weeks of the season. Keep up the hard work and it will pay off. Thanks for being a part of this TEAM.

Thanks & Happy Running, Jumping, & Throwing!!!

Golden Eagles--
Thanks for all your hard work and helping us to build a TEAM concept. These past two weeks have shown us a lot about our TEAM. We need to keep working hard and encouraging each other towards our Goals. It has been great to see so many of you at practice. Keep inviting your friends out to practice. The more athletes we have the better.  It will be great this week to have a track meet! This first meet is our time trial for the season. You are expected to participate in four events at this meet.

Now for this upcoming week of March 10th – 15th we do have our first track meet on Wednesday the 12th at Timpview HS (3570 Timpview Dr, Provo, UT 84604) vs Wasatch, Provo, TV, & us. The start time is 3:30pm and the order of events is below. The buses will leave MMHS at 2:15pm. Because it is a Wednesday no students will be missing any classes. The athletes who have paid their participation fee and turned in their paperwork are allowed to compete in this meet.

We will be handing out uniforms to those who have turned in their paperwork and paid their participation fee on Tuesday during practice.
