Cross Country Fundraiser

This year our fundraiser for our cross country team will be selling peaches and apples from Mountainland (the red barn in Santaquin).  This fundraiser is designed to help raise money for our team and also to help you as the athlete raise money to help you pay for Footlocker Cross Country Western Regional’s in California.  Each box of fruit you sell, you will get $5 to go towards Footlocker.  If you sell fruit but don’t go to Footlocker the money goes to the team for items that the team needs.  All money ($20) is turned into the
finance office and a receipt and how many boxes you need of each fruit is given to Coach Wyatt.  Coach Wyatt will track how much money you have earned towards footlocker. Please keep track of who you sold fruit to. We as coaches are not responsible for that information.  The price for the boxes of fruit is as follows:

  • Peaches (canning)- 22 lb box for $20
  • Gala Apples-14 lb box for $20

All Money is due at time of order, than the fruit will be delivered by you to them.  All checks are made payable to MMHS Cross Country.

Peach money and order is due by September 1, 2015 and the peaches will be delivered sometime the following week.

Apple money and order is due by September 17, 2015 and the apples will be delivered sometime the following week.

Race Season is HERE!

Golden Eagles,

We are just one week away from our first race!  It is at Springville High School on Thursday, August 20th.

Our first 3:00 pm practice starts Thursday August 13th at the school.  The afternoons will be warm so remember to hydrate (drink water)!  It is hard to believe that the summer is over already and school is about to start.  Remember to invite your friends out for XC!

We had a great parent's meeting on Monday.  If you were not able to attend, here is a quick overview of what we covered.

  • Required Paperwork and Fees
    • Register your athlete at www.RegisterMyAthlete.com
      • If you have registered for a sport in a previous season, your account will still be there.  All you will need to do is register your athlete for the new season, answer a few questions, agree to certain conditions, and upload a copy of your athlete's physical (see additional notes on the physical below).
      • Each athlete is required to have a physical each year.  The year is a calendar year, so if your athlete submitted a physical in March 2015 , they do not need to submit another physical until March 2016.
    • Read and sign the participation agreement.  Your athlete can get these forms at practice each day.
    • Pay the $60 activity fee to the Finance office.
    • (Remember, in order to be eligible to run our first race on Thursday August 20th, you need to have the three items above completed.)
  • Uniforms

  • Starting last track season, athletes have been encouraged to purchase their own uniforms. There are several reasons for this change including the following:
  • ·         Athletes often want to keep their uniforms after graduating (Doing so dishonestly causes a shortage)
    ·         Athletes often take better care of items that are theirs
    ·         Athletes do not enjoying receiving/wearing performance clothing worn by other athletes, particular those that are permanently stained or damage from improper care
    ·         The habit of not turning in jerseys (and collecting multiple sets) led to a severe of shortage uniforms prior to last track season, causing many athletes to compete without a complete uniform
    ·         Check-out and check-in procedures are time-consuming for coaches, athletes, and the financial secretary, especially at the end of the year when seniors are trying to collect graduation materials.

In order to help alleviate these concerns, we are asking athletes to purchase their uniform and use it for the time they are here at Maple Mountain High School. We have these uniforms on hand. Athletes wishing to purchase the uniform should pay $48 ($28 for top, $20 for bottoms) to the finance office and show Coach Andrus the receipt to receive their uniform. Athletes who purchased a uniform in track season DO NOT NEED TO REPURCHASE a uniform. Buying one time is sufficient. All athletes will be able to use their uniform in the track season this spring, unless they prefer to have both shorts and spandex. In that case, buying a second pair of bottoms would be suggested. Again, athletes will be able to keep all purchased items upon graduating.  If you have a financial concern regarding purchasing uniforms, please contact Coach Andrus ASAP.  We want everyone to have a uniform!

Team dinners.
Here is the link to the team dinner signup.  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4baea82ea3f85-team We have six dinners scheduled for this season.  We may drop the one the night before region if there is a consensus.  There was some interest in having a banquet after the season, so we will look into that as well.

Enough on that subject.  We have put up an optional team gear offering.  Here is the info from Coach Andrus:
In order to provide a wider range of team gear options, we have setup a team gear catalog with Universal Athletic. This first season the catalog is simple and includes a workout shirt, workout shorts, a hooded sweatshirt, a polo, a quarter-zip jacket, a beanie, and a couple of bag options. Future catalogs may rotate items to include more options. Please note that NONE OF THIS GEAR IS REQUIRED FOR COMPETITION OR PRACTICE. The decision to purchase these items is completely optional. The program receives no benefit from sales. The sole purpose of the catalog is to provide athletes and parents with the option to purchase Maple Mountain Cross Country gear. Purchasing the team uniform should take precedence over purchasing the gear, as the uniform is necessary for competition.

How to Purchase Team Gear

·         Go to http://mmcc15.itemorder.com (The items shown are specific to our school)
·         Browse the catalog and choose an item or items
·         Group all items for the household on to one order (The is a flat shipping rate of $5 per order)
·         Pay online (There will be a small transaction fee – again, avoid multiple transactions)
