Golden
Eagles--
With all the work of the first two weeks of practice it is time
to have a “pay day” in a track meet. This week you get to have two
opportunities to see some of your hard work pay off. We have been pleased with
the work you all have put into practice. Keep it up and keep pushing yourself
and your TEAM-mates and good things will come. Thanks for being a part of this
TEAM. Below are items of note for all of you. As always if you have any
questions just ask.
Uniforms: Will be checked out to athletes on Monday during practice. These uniforms are to be checked back in at the end of the season. These uniforms are to only be worn at track meets. Remember you represent more than just yourself when you put on that Maple Mountain uniform. You represent your family, your TEAM, your school, and those TEAM-mates who have worn that uniform before you. Wear it with pride!
Track Meet Tuesday 3/12
Track
meet Tuesday is at Mtn. View HS in Orem (688W Center Street). Start time is
3:30pm the schedule of events is attached. All athletes can
participate in up to 4 events. These events are of their own choosing unless
told otherwise by one of the coaches. We use this meet as a time trial for most
event areas. Field events will be open pit with the exception of the High Jump.
This meet serves as our time trial, not only does it give you a starting point, but it gives us as coaches data regarding you and our TEAM. So run your best & talk with your event coaches as to what events they want you to do. Busses will leave MMHS at 2:00pm students at MMHS will be excused from class at 1:45pm & students at the Junior Highs will be excused at 1:35pm. Good luck at this meet.

Meet 3/15 & 3/16:
The second meet this week is a “Relay Challenge Meet” This meet is a fun meet and a great chance for us to compete in some fun events that are not normally held (i.e. the throwers relay, sprint medley, shuttle hurdle relay). For many of our athletes who competed the last two years in this meet they have commented on how it was one of the highlights of the year. We are the two time defending TEAM champions in this meet and hope to repeat this year. The Cougar Relays are on Friday March 15th and Saturday March 16th at Kearns High School. (5525 Cougar Lane, Kearns Utah. By the Olympic Ice Oval) This meet is set up in a Frosh/Soph & Varsity style. On Friday will be all of the Varsity field events and all of the Frosh/Soph running events. On Saturday will be all of the Varsity running events and the Frosh/Soph field events. In this meet, athletes will compete in events chosen by the coaches. We will do our best to try to get every athlete into an event; however this is not always possible. Thanks for your understanding on this. IF you know you, for some reason, will not be attending this meet please let Coach Wyatt know by end of practice Monday. Thanks. The buses will be leaving Maple Mtn. on Friday at 1:30pm and on Saturday at 7:30am. Start time on Friday is 3:30pm & 9:00am on Saturday. This will be a very fun meet!

Other Notes:
Other notes for this week for everyone to be aware of, with the end of the term (Thursday) make sure that you are meeting the requirements to be academically eligible & taking care of all NC’s. Simple solution here is to just GO TO CLASS!!! TEAM let’s make sure that you are all stretching and cooling down after your workouts as well as hydrating yourselves. Final challenge that we have for you is that at the meets you take the time to cheer on your fellow TEAM-mates as they compete. Thank you to all of you for a good first two weeks of the season. Keep up the hard work and it will pay off. Thanks for being a part of this TEAM.
Thanks & Happy Running, Jumping, & Throwing!!!
