Tiger Trials & BYU Invite info MMHS Track & Field Notes for April 28 –May 4

Golden Eagles –

Thank you for all of your hard work and your dedication with the long day at the Tiger Trials Invite. We had a lot of good things happen at this meet and a lot of lessons learned by all of us at this meet. Taking the lessons from each meet will only make us stronger as a TEAM and as individual athletes. There are always things to learn, and this meet and the last two have really helped remind all of us of the basics and fundamentals. It is by following the basics & the fundamentals, along with your hard work & cheering each other on that our TEAM will be able to achieve our goals.

Congrats to our girls TEAM on their second place finish at the Tiger Trials and to our Boys & Girls TEAMs on their victory at the Mountain Valley invite on Tuesday. This was a very good week for our TEAM. Good marks were set at both meets. Congrats goes out to Elli Eastmond & Regan Pond for setting school records in the 800m & the 3200m, Our girls Medley Relay team of Christine Heyn, Jensen Williams, Megan Elmont, & Ellie Eastmond for setting the school record in that event. Congrats to Ellie Eastmond, Megan Elmont, Jensen Williams, Paxton Patey, Drew Bates and our girls 4x400 & Medley relay teams of Megan Elmont, Christine Heyn, Elli Eastmond & Jensen Williams on all qualifying for state. Several of these marks were some of the best in 4a, and there were other improvements at this meet that we don’t have time to update now. Great job by everyone full meets results can be found at www.runnercard.com

Tuesday we are hosting a Special Olympics at MMHS. We have discussed this meet at practice & this is a wonderful way for us to give back to our community. This meet really is a chance where we always seem to get more from it than the service we give. Wednesday & Thursday are also times to provide service for the Maple Mountain community as we host Hersey Track meets for our elementary schools. This is a great way to give back. Coach Wyatt will be asking a few of you to help out at these meets.

Now some upcoming dates and info for this week and the rest of the season:

Monday Practice at MMHS 3:00pm
Tuesday: Special Olympics at MMHS practice at 3:00pm
Wednesday: Hershey Track @ MMHS practice at 3:00pm

Meet schedule can be found at: http://www.byutrack.com/various/Special/Meet_Info/2012-13/BYUHSInv/BYUInv-13.htm This meet is also part of our fundraiser for our TEAM. If you are not participating in this meet you will be helping run this meet. We need all the members of our TEAM to help. The more we have the better it is for our TEAM. Full details for departure for this meet will be given at practice this week. (We use the money from this fundraiser to buy our senior gifts, end of year awards, and provide our end of season banquet. All of this money goes right back to you) We will be working on a sign up list this week during practice so that we have both days of this meet covered. It is a great way to support your TEAM and also get to watch some great track and field action.
