Herriman Invite Champions, Records, and Week 5 Notes

Golden Eagles –
This past week was a very busy one for us with two meets in two days. The first one was a Region 8 Tri meet at Timpanogos. Full meet results can be found at www.runtwolf.com The second meet was the Herriman Invite at Herriman High School. This was a good meet for our TEAM and we thank all of you for being willing to go along with the last minute change in the schedule. Congrats to the boys TEAM on winning this meet and the girls TEAM was so, so close again. Don’t worry ladies it will come. This was a very balanced meet for our TEAM with every event area scoring on both the boys and girls side. That is an amazing TEAM effort, well done. We as coaches have asked a lot of all of you over this past week & you have risen to the occasion. Thank you. Now it is not over, there is so much more to do. Let us stay the course & keep moving in the right direction toward the goals we want. Let us support each other more in all of our event areas. Remember it takes everyone to get the goals we want.

Records & Qualifiers: Now full meet results can be found at www.runnercard.com. Some of the highlights were: Skyler Porcaro setting an unofficial state record in the boys javelin with a monster throw of 189’ 3”.  Sarah Hash set our school record in the 800meters with a perfect run of 2:25. Megan Elmont extended her own long jump school record with a jump of 16’ 10”. Tarin Strosser kept up her double hurdle winning streak by winning the 100’s & 300’s while setting our school record in the 300 hurdles by .02. Our girls’ medley relay team of Christine Heyn, Rachel Bingham, Megan Elmont, and Brenda Quintana also set our school record with a run of 4:23.62. Great job to all our new school record holders. We also had qualifying for state from this meet: Tarin Strosser in the 100 hurdles, Spencer Asay in the Long Jump, Skyler Porcaro in the Javelin, and our girls medley relay. There were many other highlights that we shared in practice. There were several additions to our top 10 all time list & to our grade record lists set at this meet. Great job to all of you, keep working hard and good things will happen.

Region 8 Meet: Now this week we also have two meets. The first one is on Tuesday and it is a Region 8 quad meet at Maple Mountain High School. The meet start time is 3:30pm. You are allowed to compete in up to 4 events and may do any event of your own choosing unless told otherwise by your event coaches. Students will not get out of class for this meet, but will meet at 3:00pm for TEAM warm up. We are hosting this meet, which means we need all of you to help with this meet. We need you all to help set up and take down this meet. You all are the hurdle crew & we will need your help in all the events. We would also love to have any parents who would be willing to help at this meet. We will find a job for you. Just contact Coach Wyatt if you can help with this meet.
